Yesterday was International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
When I visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial in 2019, the experience changed my life forever.
A couple years before that experience, I watched the film The Pianist for the first time. The film was about the classical composer and pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman and his experiences surviving the Holocaust. Prior to watching that film, I had never had such an emotional viewing experience.
In honor of those who suffered and lost their lives during the Holocaust, this week I wanted to share a video from 1997 of Wladyslaw Szpilman performing Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 20 in C♯ Minor.”
Watching this video was such an emotional experience. Szpilman performed this piece beautifully, and it is truly a miracle that he survived the Holocaust.
If you have never seen The Pianist, I highly recommend that you watch the film.
May we honor those who lost their lives during the Holocaust, and may we carry peace and love in our hearts. ❤
