Nocturne No. 20 in C♯ Minor

Yesterday was International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

When I visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial in 2019, the experience changed my life forever.

A couple years before that experience, I watched the film The Pianist for the first timeThe film was about the classical composer and pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman and his experiences surviving the Holocaust. Prior to watching that film, I had never had such an emotional viewing experience.

In honor of those who suffered and lost their lives during the Holocaust, this week I wanted to share a video from 1997 of Wladyslaw Szpilman performing Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 20 in C♯ Minor.”

Watching this video was such an emotional experience. Szpilman performed this piece beautifully, and it is truly a miracle that he survived the Holocaust.

If you have never seen The Pianist, I highly recommend that you watch the film.

May we honor those who lost their lives during the Holocaust, and may we carry peace and love in our hearts. ❤
