Happy September! 🍁

I recently started watched the show New Girl because my friend told me she loved it and thought I would too.

Well, she was CORRECT! 😃

The show is absolutely HILARIOUS and Zooey Deschanel is FANTASTIC! 💚

Have you seen the show? Who is your favorite character?

Whenever I’m watching a show or movie, I pay attention to the music that is being used.

In “Backslide” (Season 1, Episode 23), Jess (played by Zooey Deschanel) tries to cope with a recent breakup by listening to the same song over and over again—driving her roommates crazy! 🤪

I wasn’t able to recognize the song, but it sounded SO BEAUTIFUL! Thanks to Joni Mitchell’s “Library of Cultural References,” I learned that Jess was listening to her song “River.”

Now that I was able to hear the full song, I find it even MORE beautiful than when I heard it in the show. 💜

  1. I *loved* New Girl! 🙂
    I remember a scene from the show ER where a teenager who had been through extensive treatments for cancer (and his parents were encouraging him to do more) said he didn’t want to suffer so much anymore. Green Day’s song “Good Riddance” (Time of Your Life) was playing in the background. The fact that I still remember it all these years later surely shows it moved me to the core.

    • I’m so glad to hear that you loved New Girl, Dawn! Pairing that ER episode with “Good Riddance” must have made for a VERY powerful scene. Music is so incredible in that it can make us feel more emotions when watching certain scenes in shows and films. Thanks for sharing! 💜
