Portugal Day 6

This week will be the final post about my trip to Portugal. (If you haven’t seen my other Portugal posts, check out Day 1Day 2Day 3, and Day 4, Day 5. 😊)

On my sixth day in Portugal, I got up early and appreciated the beautiful view from my hotel window one last time before heading to the train station with my suitcase. I needed to travel to my next hotel—Upon Lisbon Prime Residences—as that night was the event that was the reason I traveled to Portugal. Rammstein was performing at Estádio da Luz. 🖤🧡

When I got off the train, I had assumed it would be easy to get to my hotel as it was so close to the train station. I was wrong. 😫

Because of the concert that night, so much was blocked off. I would walk around with my suitcase thinking I would be able to finally get to my hotel, and then the road would be blocked off. ☹️

Eventually, I found a way to get to my hotel, and I was so excited! 😁

When I checked in at the hotel, the staff asked if I was going to see the concert that night. (I specifically chose to stay at Upon Lisbon Prime Residences because it was directly across the street from Estádio da Luz (the Luz Stadium).) The staff said that they hoped that everyone staying at their hotel that night was going to the concert because otherwise, they anticipated getting angry calls about the music being too loud. 😆

After checking in, I enjoyed lunch at the hotel’s burger restaurant. My burger was served on bolo do caco (a Madeiran flatbread) and had presunto (a Portguese dry-cured ham) with Queijo da Serra (a Portuguese cheese from Serra da Estrela). It was SO DELCIOUS! 🤤

After lunch, I REALLY wanted to explore more of Portugal. Unfortunately, since it was very difficult to get around due to so much being closed off, I knew I wouldn’t have time to see much other than Centro Commercial Colombo (the Colombo Shopping Centre).

The challenge was that the mall was near the train station. 🤔

I was able to hire a driver to take me to the mall, and on the way, I saw SO MANY people lined up outside the venue as well as BLOCKS and BLOCKS away from the venue standing in direct sunlight. It was such a HOT day, and people had clearly been standing in line for hours to get a good spot in the general admission section.

The mall was HUGE and had beautiful statues—my favorite being a giant lime green elephant with colorful designs.

I also enjoyed seeing a GIANT triceratops animatronic. (The Triceratops is my favorite dinosaur.😊) Its eyes blinked, and it moved its mouth to roar. It was so cool!

The LEGO shop at the mall had some really neat artwork!

In the background of the Lego art, you can see Torre de Belém (the Belém Tower). I saw that on my fourth day in Portugal. 😃

After the mall, I headed back to the hotel to get ready for the show.

I knew I didn’t have to walk very far from the hotel to the stadium because there was a bridge connecting the two.

I didn’t know the stadium was going to leave the gate on that bridge locked. 😮

After walking around for a while, I finally got to the stadium. 🤣

The concert was PHENOMENAL! 🔥

I was very excited that Rammstein perfomed “Ohne Dich,” my FAVORITE song. 💙

When the show ended, it was past midnight, so I was VERY happy I was staying right across the street from the venue.

The pressing question was: Would the gate on the bridge be unlocked?

It was! 😁

I traveled to Portugal specifically to see this concert, but I have to say that my time in Portugal was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

Thank you for reading about my experiences in Portugal! ❤️
