Soda Pop

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 💙

I recently saw KPop Demon Hunters and had a HUGE smile on my face when the song “Soda Pop” came on.

This song is so catchy, and this part of the film is so ADORABLE! 😍

This section of the movie brought back memories of being a kid and just GUSHING over adorable boys like the girls in this movie do! I laughed so hard at the girls’ silliness! 😃

How do you like the song? I hope it makes you smile! 😁

How has 2026 been treating you so far?

Did you make a new year’s resolution?

Has it been going well working toward achieving that goal?

I LOVE the videos offered by Dharma Lab! ❤️

My day ALWAYS feels brighter after listening to one of their episodes. 🌞

I wanted to share with you episode 20 “Why Willpower Isn’t Enough – The Neuroscience of Sustainable Change.”

In this video, Dr. Richie Davidson and Dr. Cortland Dahl provide GREAT tips for keeping your new year’s resolution.

Although they often talk about meditation in this episode as a goal you might be trying to achieve, you can apply their advice to ANY resolution you are striving for.

Here are their tips:

1. Set the stage for meaningful change.
They recommend asking yourself what you can change in your environment to make it easier for you to achieve your goal. For example, if you want to lose weight but don’t make changes to what you are eating, it will be difficult for you to lose the weight you want to lose. They encourage thinking about what you can do to best support yourself.

2. Consider more modest changes.
They recommend taking small steps and repeating them many times. You should ask yourself what the minimum amount of time a day that you can commit to working toward your goal is.

3. Be prepared for losses.
When you’re having a good day working toward your new year’s resolution, they recommend asking yourself what you’ll do to encourage yourself to keep trying on a day when you aren’t feeling very motivated. I liked their suggestion to keep in mind that just because things might be challenging, it doesn’t mean that you have not been meaningfully contributing to your resolution.

I LOVE that they said when you’re trying to achieve a goal that will positively impact the rest of your life, it DOESN’T matter how long it takes. For example, if you are trying to lose weight to be healthier, it won’t matter if that weight loss occurs quickly or gradually. I like the idea of not putting so much pressure on ourselves to try to quickly achieve a goal.

I hope that Dr. Richie Davidson and Dr. Cortland Dahl’s words of wisdom will help you realize your goal!
