My First Trip to Taiwan

I got an exciting opportunity to take a business trip to Taiwan through my full-time job. I got to visit Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.  I was busy working hard and didn’t really have time to be a tourist, so you will notice I basically have pictures of food and buildings 😉 However, my former students that I met there showed me some really interesting things in Taiwan!

I got to see Taipei 101. I didn’t have time to go up to the top,  but I still appreciated seeing the beautiful building!

I learned that the lights on the building change every day. They cycle through the colors of the rainbow 🙂

In Taipei 101, I got introduced to some delicious Taiwanese dumplings at Din Tai Fung Dumpling House, a restaurant that actually earned 1 Michelin Star!

My former students took me to a Night Market in Taipei.

It was so interesting to see all of the different kinds of things you can buy at the Night Market. There were so many different kinds of food!

I also got introduced to traditional Taiwanese food at a local family restaurant.

Here my students encouraged me to try frog, and I did.

The National Museum of Natural Science is in Taichung (I didn’t have time to visit it though…). On the way to the museum is this beautiful walkway. I love how there are a bunch of trees in the middle of the city. It was really beautiful!

I also came across the Calligraphy Greenway, which has art and nature in the middle of the city.

When I left Wisconsin  to travel to Taiwan, Wisconsin was covered with snow and very cold, so I was very happy to see green and not have to wear a jacket in Taiwan! 🙂

In Kaohsiung I was introduced to a delicious dessert (that I’m not sure the name of), which is basically a waffle sandwich filled with red bean. If these are served somewhere in Wisconsin that I am not aware of, please let me know! 🙂

I got to spend the least amount of time in Kaohsiung, but here is a photo overlooking the city that I took from one of the top floors of a building I was working in.

Although I didn’t get to do much sight seeing, I really enjoyed my visit to Taiwan! I would love to return to Taiwan as a tourist. There is so much to see!

As for a music update, I want to let you all know that I am super excited about my upcoming CD Release Show at the Brink Lounge next Saturday! I hope you can join me in the celebration of the release of my first CD! 🙂

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
