This week, I wanted to express my gratitude for music.
Life is constantly full of ups and downs, and you need something to keep you grounded. For me, it’s music.
Lately, my life has been so busy, and a big part of me has been feeling empty.
I realized that it’s because music has been missing.
It’s been over a month since I last performed. And, I haven’t been playing my guitar and singing regularly.
Often, it’s not until you notice the absence of something that you realize how important it is to you.
Music is so important to me. Not only because it makes me happy, but also because it has gotten me through so many hard times in my life. It’s what keeps me moving forward in life.
When I went through a terrible break up, I wrote “Much to Your Dismay.” Although the words hurt to sing during that time, each time I sang the song, I felt stronger and stronger.
Within a period of only five months, I lost both my grandmother and aunt. It was an extremely difficult time in my life, but I was able to get through it because of my song, “Goodbye.” I would sing the song with tears streaming down my face, but each time I sang it, the more I knew that my life would still be okay, even if it was living with them only in my memories.
When I experienced a terrible act of betrayal, I was able to get through it because of my song, “One Woman Ain’t Enough.” When people began sharing that they could relate to my song, I felt less and less torn apart knowing that I wasn’t alone.
Music has gotten me through so many hard times in my life. And, when you listen to the songs on TEMPTATION, you will understand what I’m talking about.
Whenever I’m singing and playing my guitar, I always feel better afterwards. Doing music gives me a special sense of peace that I only experience when I’m doing music.
I am so grateful to have something my life that, on a good day, makes me feel happier, and on a bad day, heals me.
Think about what it is that keeps you grounded in life. Don’t forget to keep doing it.
