“Deck the Halls”

Happy Thursday! Since this is the LAST THURSDAY of December, I wanted to share with you the latest song that I posted on my YouTube channel, AllysMusicRoom.

This month, I wanted to share a Christmas carol with you!

Here is my cover of “Deck the Halls”:

Lyrics:
Written by Thomas Oliphant in 1862

Deck the hall with boughs of holly,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
‘Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Fill the meadcup, drain the barrel,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Troul the ancient Christmas carol,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

See the flowing bowl before us,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Follow me in merry measure,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
While I sing of beauty’s treasure,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

Fast away the old year passes,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses!
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Laughing, quaffing all together,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!
Heedless of the wind and weather,
Fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la!

I had a fun time learning this song! 🙂 I was interested in learning that unlike the most popular version of “Deck the Halls,” the original version of the song talks a lot about drinking! 😀

I also enjoyed learning the word “quaffing” as I was unfamiliar with this word prior to learning this song! 😉

Wishing you and your family the happiest of holidays and a happy and healthy 2018! ❤
