I’m a Believer

It’s still the month of LOVE, and this week’s love song is The Monkees’ “I’m a Believer.” ❤

Lyrics:

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me
Love was out to get me
That’s the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all of my dreams
Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I’m in love
I’m a believer, I couldn’t leave her if I tried
I thought love was more or less a giving thing
Seems the more I gave the less I got
What’s the use in tryin’
All you get is pain?
When I needed sunshine, I got rain
Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I’m in love
I’m a believer, I couldn’t leave her if I tried
Oh
Oh, love was out to get me
Now, that’s the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all of my dreams
Then I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I’m in love
I’m a believer, I couldn’t leave her if I tried
Yes, I saw her face, now I’m a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
Said, I’m a believer, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah (I’m a believer)
Said, I’m a believer, yeah (I’m a believer)
I said, I’m a believer, yeah (I’m a believer)
I’ve always thought that this was such a cute, feel-good love song! 🙂
The Monkees’ music always makes me smile because I think about how obsessed my mom and aunts were with them when they were growing up! 😉

Although this song brightens up my day, the reason I chose this song for this week’s post is a sad one. 😦 This morning I saw that Monkees’ member Peter Tork passed away. Check out the RollingStone article about him, here.

In the article I learned that Peter had been touring with the Monkees within the past few years. Check out his live performance of “Your Auntie Grizelda” in 2016.

May Peter’s passion for music and the joy he brought others through his music live on. ❤

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
