Next week is Christmas! 😮
Yesterday, it got to 68°F, and we broke our record for the warmest day in December in Madison, WI! 🌞 I enjoyed a long walk yesterday because I don’t know when it will be that warm again.
Since Christmas is coming up, I wanted to share another Christmas carol with you. Here’s my cover of “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.”
I was recently watching the 1964 claymation Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
A song that I really enjoy in that film is “We’re a Couple of Misfits.”
Lyrics:
We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits
That’s where we fit in!
We’re not daffy and dilly
Don’t go ’round willy nilly
Seems to us kinda silly
That we don’t fit in.
We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test
Of what is really best?
We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits
That’s where we fit in!
Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nit wit!
I’m a dear of a reindeer
Why don’t I fit in?
Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nit wit!
They can’t fire me.
I quit!
Seems I don’t fit in
We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test
Of what is really best?
We’re a couple of misfits
We’re a couple of misfits
What’s the matter with misfits
That’s where we fit in!

I love that Hermey and Rudolph are singing about the importance of embracing your uniqueness. I especially like the lines “We may be different from the rest/ Who decides the test/Of what is really best?”
NO ONE should ever make you believe that you are less than someone else. NO ONE should ever make you feel that who you are and what makes you happy is not good enough.
What do you think of this song? What is your favorite song from this film?
It’s okay to be a “misfit.” 🤓 LOVE who you ARE. ❤
Wishing you well! ❤
Love the upliftingness of your post – ALL of the songs, what you did in the photo with the red ornaments on the snowy branches and most of all your message of embracing uniqueness. Walking to the beat of a different drummer is something to embrace!
Thank you so much for your comment! 🙂 I cannot take credit for the photograph because it is from Pixabay, but I am glad that you also think it is beautiful! I appreciate that you also recognize the importance of people embracing their uniqueness. 🙂
