Old Toy Trains

Hereโ€™s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

It’s December! โ„๏ธ

Do you know what that means? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

It’s time for Christmas tunes! ๐Ÿ˜

Here’s my 2014 cover of “O Holy Night”:

This week’s song is “Old Toy Trains” by Roger Miller.

Lyrics:

Old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys comin’ from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red
Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?
Close your eyes
Listen to the skies
All is calm, all is well
Soon you’ll hear Kris Kringle and the jingle bells
Bringin’ old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys comin’ from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red
Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?
Close your eyes
Listen to the skies
All is calm, all is well
Soon you’ll hear Kris Kringle and the jingle bells
Bringin’ old toy trains, little toy tracks
Little boy toys comin’ from a sack
Carried by a man dressed in white and red
Little boy, don’t you think it’s time you were in bed?

This was one of my FAVORITE Christmas ornaments when I was a kid! ๐Ÿฉท

I heard “Old Toy Trains” this week for the first time in AGES!

How does the song make you feel?

It definitely captures the magic and happiness that children experience at Christmas time! ๐ŸŒฒ

I completely forgot about this Christmas song because it seems like it’s not played very often. I wonder why that is.

I remember being so excited writing my letter to Santa each year! ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป

I also remember hoping I behaved well enough so that he wouldn’t bring me coal! ๐Ÿคฃ

The photograph I included in this week’s post is of an ornament that I LOVED as a child!

At one point during my childhood, I really wanted to be a ballerina! ๐ŸฉฐI remember that I LOVED this ornament because of the ballerina dancing at the center of the stage! โค๏ธ

I also loved this ornament when I was a kid because you could plug the ornament into a light on your Christmas tree and make the color of the stage light whatever color you wanted it to be! ๐Ÿ˜

Seeing this ornament brings me sheer joy! ๐Ÿ’š

Can you think of any special memories you have from Christmas when you were a kid?

May you be well! ๐Ÿ’™
