My Guitar Gently Weeps

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 🎵

It’s already mid-March! 🐇Can you believe it?

I’ve absolutely been enjoying the warmer weather! 😎

I recently finished painting one of three Onna-Bugeisha (female samurai) that I have. Here are some pictures of the first one:

In line with the theme of samurai is Kubo and the Two Strings, an aesthetically appealing stop-motion film that I recently rewatched.

Have you seen the film? What did you think of it?

I love its message about perseverance and staying true to yourself. 💙

No matter WHO someone else is, YOU always have the power to be yourself and make the choice that is best for YOU! ❤️

Since I enjoy speaking Japanese, visiting Japan, and learning about Japanese culture, you can be assured that I appreciated the incorporation of Japanese culture in this film! 💜

The end of the film features a cover of “My Guitar Gently Weeps” by Regina Spektor.

Lyrics:

I look at you all, see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted
No one alerted you
I look at you all, see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Weeps
While my guitar gently weeps
Still my guitar gently weeps
While my guitar gently weeps
Still my guitar gently weeps

I thought a photo from a sword museum I visited in Japan would be appropriate here considering the Japanese theme of the film and influence on the song. 🏯

I love how the individuals involved in creating this cover of “My Guitar Gently Weeps” produced a modern song that incorporates a traditional Japanese sound. I think it’s a beautiful rendition of the song! 🩷

Regina Spektor’s voice is so HAUNTING, yet BEAUTIFUL!

How do you like the song?

Do you have a favorite version of “My Guitar Gently Weeps?”

May you be well! 💚

If you’d like to support my mission to share my passion for music with the world and spread joy, love, and positivity, you can do so here. Thank you! ❤️
