Mobile

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 🎵

I had a song stuck in my head—well part of one…just the words “Everything’s changing. No matter where I go…I don’t know.”

I couldn’t figure out what the song was.

I knew it was something I grew up listening to.

I thought maybe it was a song by Mandy Moore.

I searched for the lyrics that I could recall, and it brought me to “Mobile” by Avril Lavigne.

Lyrics:

Went back home again
This sucks gotta pack up and leave again
Say goodbye to all my friends
Can’t say when I’ll be there again
It’s time now to turn around
Turn my back on
Everything
(Turn my back on)
Everything

Everything’s changing
When I turn around
All out of my control
I’m a mobile

Everything’s changing
When I turn around
All out of my control
I’m a mobile

Start back at this life
Stretch myself back into the vibe
I’m waking up to say I’ve tried
Instead of waking up to another TV guide
It’s time now to turn around
Turn and walk on this crazy ground

Everything’s changing
When I turn around
All out of my control
I’m a mobile

Everything’s changing
Out of what I know
Everywhere I go
I’m a mobile
I’m a mobile

Hanging from the ceiling
Life’s a mobile
Spinning round with mixed feelings
Crazy and wild
Sometimes I want to scream out loud

Everything’s changing
Everywhere I go
All out of my control
Everything’s changing
Everywhere I go
Out of what I know

La, la, la, la, la, la (la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la (la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la (la, la, la)
La, la, la, la, la, la

Everything’s changing
When I turn around
All out of my control
I’m a mobile

Everything’s changing
Out of what I know
Everywhere I go
I’m a mobile
Everywhere I go
I’m a mobile

Only some of the words that I remembered were correct! 😂

When I was learning how to play guitar, I remember learning covers of Avril’s songs! 🤓

Just like the chorus sings about, life constantly changes.

However, sometimes there are things that don’t seem to change.

Have you ever driven by a place that you used to pass in the car when you were a child and notice that it still looks the same after all these years?

It’s so crazy how some things seem to NEVER change! 😮

I recall the first time I visited the Magic Kingdom as an adult. (Check out my post about that here.)

Cinderella’s Castle

I was really lucky and got to go to Disney World THREE times when I was a kid! The first time was when I was in fifth grade, and I got to go with my family. After that, I got to go as a sophomore and then as a senior in high school because I was performing with the band and choir. 🎶

Seeing Disney World as an adult was so exciting! It was CRAZY that everything looked the same as it did when I went as a kid!🩷

Have you gone to Disney World before? What was your experience like?

If you’ve gone as an adult, did you notice anything different than your experience when you were a kid?

When life constantly changes, sometimes things can be really hard.

Because of that it’s important to remember that there are some things that stay the same.

For example, Dr. Rick Hanson, author of the AMAZING book Hardwiring Happiness, says, “Look around and see so many things that are unaffected by the [changes in life] trees reaching for the sky, birds flying, friends cooking dinner, good music, laughter, love flowing.”💛

When you’re having a tough moment, I hope you think of Dr. Hanson’s wise words and find peace. 💜

If you’d like to support my mission to share my passion for music with the world and spread joy, love, and positivity, you can do so here. Thank you! ❤️
