Rip Her to Shreds

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 🐿️

I LOVE all the beautiful flowers outside that have been brightening my day! 🌞

Do you enjoy watching horror movies?

I just watched the film Send Help. Have you seen it? If so, what did you think?

Rachel McAdams was fabulous in it as Linda Liddle!

She definitely played a very different character than when she played Alley in the romantic drama The Notebook. 🤣

The movie explores themes of the abuse of power and bullying.

Early on in the movie, the film features the song “Rip Her to Shreds” by Blondie.

Lyrics:

Oh, you know her
Would you look at that hair?
Yeah, you know her
Check out those shoes
She looks like she stepped out of the middle of somebody’s blues
She looks like the Sunday comics
She thinks she’s Brenda Starr
Her nose job is real atomic
All she needs is an old knife scar
Ew, she’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
She’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
Oh, you know her, “Miss Groupie Supreme”
Yeah, you know her, “Vera Vogue” on parade
Red eye shadow, green mascara
Bleh, she’s too much
She looks like she don’t know better
A case of partial extreme
Dressed in a Robert Hall sweater
Acting like a soap opera queen
Yeah, she’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
She’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
She got the nerve to tell me she’s not on it
But her expression is too serene
Yeah, she looks like she washes with Comet
Always lookin’ to create a scene
Yeah, she’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
She’s so dull
Come on, rip her to shreds
She’s so dull
Rip her to shreds
Oh, you know her, “Miss Groupie Supreme”
Yeah, you know her, “Vera Vogue” on parade
Yeah, you know her, with the fish-eatin’ grin
She’s so dull
Yeah, she got the nerve to tell me
Huh, she’s so dull
Hey, there she goes now
She makin’ out with King Kong
She take her boat to Hong Kong
Well, bye-bye, sugar
And not a minute too soon

What do you think of the song?

I had never heard it before I watched this movie.

I had to look up who Brenda Starr was! 🤣

It was an interesting and clearly intentional choice to include this song in the film.

The people that Linda Liddle works with are so cruel to her.

They are deeply critical of the way she presents herself and communicates.

Can you relate?

Where do people get the idea that they can be so cruel to another human being? ☹️

It’s so important to put yourself in someone else’s shoes before you make the choice to cast judgement on them.

These are my muddy shoes from when I made my first music video! 🤓

For those of you who haven’t seen the film, I don’t want to give anything away, but I do want to say that bad experiences are NEVER an excuse for someone’s bad behavior.

There is a part of the film where Linda Liddle says “Never mistake my kindness for weakness.”

Where did the idea that being kind is weak come from?

I love the idea that people who are unkind to someone are just off-loading their own shame onto someone else; the unkind behavior has nothing to do with the person on the receiving end.

May we all consistently practice being kind to one another! ❤️

May you be well! 💙

If you’d like to support my mission to share my passion for music with the world and spread joy, love, and positivity, you can do so here. Thank you so much! 💚
