Last night, I posted the acoustic version of my 9th original song on my YouTube Channel. The song is called “Beautiful Agony.”
“Beautiful Agony” is a song that I wrote in college about one of my friends. He was still absolutely head over heels in love with his ex (a very beautiful gal).

No matter how sweet this guy was to her, she was so cruel to him. I tried to point out to him the things she was doing to him, and how he didn’t deserve to be treated like that, but he just didn’t “get it.”
I wrote this song because I was so angry that he would’t listen to me, and I wrote this song in dedication to all of the men and women who get taken advantage of by beautiful people.
The story is told by a third party who watches his/her friend be destroyed by this beautiful girl.
The first verse of the song talks about how this guy has lost all confidence in himself and apologizes for anything that makes the gorgeous girl unhappy. He doesn’t understand that she is never content with anything, and whatever he tries to do for her will never be good enough.
The second verse talks about how the girl takes advantages of him. She makes him take her wherever she wants to go. She makes him wait on her. She makes him do all of the things that she feels she is too good to do herself. If he tries to tell her no, she pouts and gives him big, blue puppy dog eyes until he once again agrees to do whatever it is that she wants. Things between her and him have gotten so far out of hand that he spends all his time doing whatever she wants, to the extent that he has no time to see his friends. Or, if he does see his friends, all he does is talk about her, and his friends don’t want to deal with it anymore.
In the last verse, the storyteller explains that this guy is not the same. He doesn’t look the way he used to when they first became friends. He doesn’t act the same way he used to. He even gave up all of his hobbies because the gorgeous girl was ashamed to be associated with a guy who had the hobbies that he used to have. The storyteller has hope in the last verse that the guy will “get it” when the gorgeous girl chews him up and spits him out like she has done to all the other guys who were infatuated with her.
My heart goes out to all of you who have been taken advantage of. Some people are very cruel. 😦
