I was very excited to get my latest instrument! It’s an instrument I’ve had no experience with and one that has a lot of sentimental value.
My grandmother gave me her father’s accordion.
My grandmother told me that her father was a very talented musician and that playing songs by ear was what made him an even more impressive musician.
Ever since I was a child, I was musically inclined. My family was always entertained and humored by this because they’d say, “I don’t know where she got it from, but it wasn’t from me.”
When I came to learn that my great-grandfather was musically inclined, I felt happy that someone in my family had a passion for music like I do.
In order to help me figure out how to play the accordion, my grandmother gave me the Dick Bennett Accordion Course: An Easy Basic Course for Class or Individual Instruction.
The copyright of my book is from the 1960’s, so I expected it to be out of print…but you can actually still get it nowadays! 😉
I’m extremely excited to figure out how to play the accordion!
The instruments on my album TEMPTATION are the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keyboard, and drums. The accordion doesn’t really fit in with my indie rock/pop/folk sound, so I won’t be busting it out in any shows 😉
But who knows what the possibilities are with this new instrument? Maybe I’ll take my cousin up on her offer to start a jug band! 😉
