“I Got You Babe”

Last week, I wrote about one of my favorite love songs,  Elvis’ “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

Since Valentine’s Day is coming soon, I wanted to write about another one of my favorite love songs, “I Got You Babe,” by Sonny and Cher.

Lyrics:

© Warner/Chappell Music, Inc Songwriters: Sonny Bono
They say we’re young and we don’t know
We won’t find out until we grow
Well I don’t know if all that’s true
‘Cause you got me, and baby I got you
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
They say our love won’t pay the rent
Before it’s earned, our money’s all been spent
I guess that’s so, we don’t have a plot
But at least I’m sure of all the things we got

Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got flowers in the spring
I got you to wear my ring
And when I’m sad, you’re a clown
And if I get scared, you’re always around
Don’t let them say your hair’s too long
‘Cause I don’t care, with you I can’t go wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
There ain’t no hill or mountain we can’t climb
Babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you to hold my hand
I got you to understand
I got you to walk with me
I got you to talk with me
I got you to kiss goodnight
I got you to hold me tight
I got you, I won’t let go
I got you to love me so
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I got you babe
I know a lot of songs from the nineteen sixties because my mother listened to an oldies radio station when I was really young. Every time this song came on, I was so excited!
 😀
I remember being a kid and watching Groundhog Day  with my relatives at a family gathering. Every time Phil, the main character, would wake up, the song, “I Got You Babe” would be playing on his clock radio. I remember my relatives just teasing me every time the song came on because they knew how much I liked the song.
😳
I don’t know if this was my favorite song as a kid because the song was very repetitive and had lyrics that were easy to remember or if I liked it because I enjoyed dancing to it. Either way, whenever I hear it now, it just reminds me of how happy it made me as a kid.
😀
I also still like this song  because it is such a cute, upbeat song about being happy and trusting everything will work out because you are with the one you love. ❤ What a great attitude to have! 🙂

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
