When you hear Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” what do you think of?
Lyrics:
Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to surviveSo many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them aliveIt’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all with the eye of the tigerFace to face, out in the heat
Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry
They stack the odds ’till we take to the street
For the kill with the skill to survive
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the dream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all with the eye of the tigerRisin’ up, straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to surviveIt’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the dream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all with the eye of the tigerThe eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger
A lot of people think of Rocky because it was the theme song of Rocky III. (I actually still haven’t seen any of the Rocky films…so, I need to do that. 😉 )
I think of racing when I hear it because sometimes the song would be blaring on the speakers before the start of my cross country races. Whenever I heard it, I felt pumped! 🙂
I also think of “Roy” when I hear this song. I remembered that there was a commercial that used the melody of “Eye of the Tiger” in it to sing about an employee. I couldn’t remember who the company was, but I found the commercial:
It’s actually a Starbucks commercial from 2004 😮 (I didn’t realize it was that long ago!), AND Survivor is actually the band singing the song! 😮 😮 😮
My favorite part of that commercial is the end where they start singing to Roy. It always makes me laugh! 😀
Does “Eye of the Tiger” make you feel pumped? 🙂
