Karma Chameleon

What songs can you think of that have really catchy choruses? When I was listening to some 80s tunes, Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon” came on. Whenever I hear this song, I want to start dancing. 🙂 Boy George’s voice is just lovely, and the chorus is so catchy!

When I was a child and heard this song on the radio, I always thought he was singing, “come uh come uh come uh come uh come uh chameleon.” 😛 When I was older, I realized that I had been singing the chorus incorrectly. 😉

This song is an example of a song that I know the chorus to but nothing else. 😀

So, this week, I decided to look up the lyrics to this song.

I learned that this song is about falling in love with someone who tricks you into thinking he/she is someone else. Unfortunately, you are hooked and cannot let go of him/her. I think a lot of people can relate to this song. I LOVE how creative this song is! Calling the person you have fallen in love with a chameleon is very clever!

If you haven’t seen the video before, make sure to check it out. The costumes are great! 🙂

Songwriters: George Alan O’dowd / Jonathan Aubrey Moss / Michael Emile Craig / Roy Ernest Hay / Phil Pickett
Dessert loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies, would you say
I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction?
You come and go, you come and go
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Didn’t you hear your wicked words every day
And you used to be so sweet I heard you say
That my love was an addiction
When we cling, our love is strong
When you go, you’re gone forever
You string along, you string along
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Every day is like survival
You’re my lover, not my rival
Every day is like survival
You’re my lover, not my rival
I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction?
You come and go, you come and go
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon
You come and go, you come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams
Red, gold, and green, red, gold, and green
Watch out for all those chameleons out there! 😉
