This week, the theme of gratitude continues. (Check out the other posts about songs related to gratitude: Thank You for Being a Friend; Showing Gratitude.)
The song I wanted to write about this week is Natalie Merchant’s “Kind and Generous.”

La la la la
You’ve been so kind and generous
I don’t know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I’m in debt to you
For your selflessness my admiration
For everything you’ve done you know I’m bound
I’m bound to thank you for it
La la la la
Hey hey hey
You’ve been so kind and generous
I don’t know how you keep on giving
For your kindness I’m in debt to you
And I never could have come this far without you
For everything you’ve done, you know I’m bound
I’m bound to thank you for it
La la la laOh, I want to thank you for so many gifts you gave
The love, the tenderness, I want to thank you
I want to thank you for your generosity, the love
And the honesty that you gave me
I want to thank you show my gratitude
My love, and my respect for you, I want to thank you
Oh, I want to thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
I want to thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you
When I was growing up this song was ALWAYS on the radio! It’s a great song, and the chorus is so catchy that the song easily got stuck in my head. It’s been a long time since I heard this song on the radio, but it often gets stuck in my head when I think about things or people that I am grateful for. In fact, since my blog posts this month have been focused on gratitude, this song has constantly been stuck in my head 😉
This was actually the first time I had seen the music video for this song. What a fun video! 🙂
This beautiful song expresses gratitude for someone who loves and respects you and treats you with absolute kindness. ❤ When you hear this, song who does it make you think of?
