It’s Christmas Eve! 🙂
Although the pandemic has prevented me from being able to celebrate the holiday as I normally would with family, I am grateful for video chat because I was still able to see family today! ❤
As a Christmas gift, I am sharing TWO songs with you this week! ❤
The first is in English AND GERMAN! 😀 I am a HUGE language nerd, and I was so excited to sing a song in German! 😀
Here is “Lo, how a Rose e’er Blooming/Es ist ein Ros entsprungen.”
Lyrics:
Lo, how a rose e’er blooming,
From tender stem hath sprung.
Of Jesse’s lineage coming,
As men of old have sung;
It came, a flow’ret bright,
Amid the cold of winter,
When half spent was the night.
Es ist ein Ros entsprungen,
aus einer Wurzel zart,
wie uns die Alten sungen,
von Jesse kam die Art
Und hat ein Blümlein bracht
mitten im kalten Winter,
wohl zu der halben Nacht.
As for my second song, here is my cover of “Good King Wenceslas.”
Lyrics:
Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the Feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even
Brightly shone the moon that night
Though the frost was cruel
When a poor man came in sight
Gathering winter fuel
Hither, page, and stand by me,
If thou knowst it, telling
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?
Sire, he lives a good league hence,
Underneath the mountain
Right against the forest fence
By Saint Agnes fountain.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas! ❤
