Happy Summer! 🌞
I LOVE a variety of genres of music, and one musical group that I really enjoy listening to is Apocalyptica.
The first time I heard a song from this phenomenal symphonic metal band from Finland, I was blown away.
When I was taking courses for my undergraduate degree at UW-Madison, Apocalyptica actually had a concert at the Barrymore Theatre, a music venue SO CLOSE to the campus. Unfortunately, at that time, I didn’t know who Apocalyptica was, so I didn’t learn about the concert until AFTER my friend had gone to it. 😦
At least I know of them now. 🙂
Some of Apocalyptica’s songs are instrumental and others have lyrics. One of their songs with lyrics that I really like is “I Don’t Care,” which features Adam Gontier, best known for being the lead singer of Three Days Grace.
I try to make it through my life, in my way, there’s you
I try to make it through these lies, and that’s all I do
Just don’t deny it
Don’t try to fight this, and deal with it
And that’s just part of it
If you were dead or still alive
I don’t care, I don’t care
Just go and leave this all behind
‘Cause I swear (I swear) I don’t care
I try to make you see my side
I always try to stay in line
But your eyes see right through
That’s all they do
I’m getting buried in this place
I got no room, you’re in my face
Don’t say anything just go away
If you were dead or still alive
I don’t care, I don’t care
Just go and leave this all behind
‘Cause I swear (I swear) I don’t care
Love changing everything, you won’t be left for me
Love changing everything, you won’t be left for me
If you were dead or still alive
I don’t care, I don’t care
Just go and leave this all behind
‘Cause I swear (I swear) I don’t care
If you were dead or still alive
I don’t care (I don’t care) I don’t care (I don’t care)
Just go and leave this all behind
I don’t care (I swear) I don’t care
At all

The haunting music video fits very well with the mood of the song. I love the song because you can feel the passion and pain in the vocals and instruments.
I wanted to share this song this week because I feel it is so relatable. The song is about being extremely hurt because someone in your life is not giving you the love and respect that you deserve, and so you make the decision to move forward without them.
Each one of us deserves love and respect, and if you have any people in your life that do not give that to you, I hope that you find the courage to surround yourself with people who treat you the way you deserve to be treated. ❤
