Yukon

I LOVE summer, and I can’t believe that we are nearing the end of July already! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Something I love doing during the summer is spending time in nature since it’s most definitely warm enough to be outside regularly. ๐ŸŒž

I recently traveled to Waupaca, Wisconsin and got my nature fix. ๐ŸŒณ

My favorite thing that I did in Waupaca was going on an AMAZING canoe ride. โค I enjoyed listening to the birds, looking at the beautiful trees, and taking in all of the fresh air. ๐Ÿ›ถ

Something that I found shocking was that the sky was a little dark with smoke from the Oregon wildfire. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ If the sky looked like that in Wisconsin, I can’t even imagine what it must be like in Oregon. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I didn’t start canoeing until about 10 years ago, and I love it so much that I wish I would have started earlier. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Canoeing is such an amazing experience because it is extremely peaceful and you feel like you are one with nature. โค

I don’t know any songs about canoeing on a lake, but I do know and LOVE a song about kayaking on a river. That is the song I will share this week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Till Lindemann, the lead singer of Rammstein, released the song “Yukon” through his musical project Lindemann. Here it is:

Lyrics:

Your soul is black
Your blood is cold
Your skin is rough
You have a heart of gold
Your face so dark
Feel clammy hair
Upon your flesh
Wet creatures everywhere
Gives me a shiver
Wild river
You stole my eyes
Never gave them back
You tried to kiss me
Set a shiver on my neck
Wild river
Wet golden shrine
You sold my mind
And tried to kill me
Sent a shiver down my spine
You hate the sun
But rain is nice
You love the snow
But you are afraid of ice
You’re dressed in mud
Unsafe to dive
I want your gold, but you
You want my life
You want my life
Wild river
You stole my eyes
Never gave them back
You tried to kiss me
Set a shiver on my neck
Wild river
Wet golden shrine
You stole my mind
And tried to kill me
Sent a shiver down my spine
You tried to drown me
Never mind to swim
And tried to eat me
Put a shiver on my skin
You tried to hold me
With million fins
And tried to heal me
Wash off my sins
Your kingdom come
We’re kneeling on the planks
All the trees bend over on the banks
Gives me a shiver
Wild river
You stole my eyes
Never give them back
You tried to kiss me
Set a shiver on my neck
Wild river
Wet golden shrine
You stole my mind
And tried to kill me
Sent a shiver down my spine
You tried to hold me
With millions fins
And tried to eat me
Bite off my sins
You tried to drown me
Never mind to swim
And tried to kill me
Set a shiver on my skin

I just LOVE this song! It is my favorite song from Lindemann’s Skills and Pills album.

What I was very interested to learn was that Till Lindemann went on a kayaking expedition along the Yukon with Joey Kelly of the Kelly Family, and he published the book Yukon: Mein gehasster Freund. Now I know what inspired the song. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After that successful book, National Geographic published a book about their experience kayaking along the Rรญo Yavarรญ: Picture Book Amazonas: Reise zum Rio Javari.

How cool to spend time on the water doing something you love AND get a book deal out of it! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you enjoy spending time in/on the water during the summer? What do you like to do? Please share below. I love reading your comments. โค

Wishing you well! โค
