Zeit (Time)

Have you decided on the theme for your life this year? (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check out last week’s post. 😋)

My theme is love. 💛

Because I LOVE music and sharing my love of music with others, I am SO EXCITED about my upcoming show!

Focusing on one theme this year will help you determine how to best use your time. Time is incredibly important. What does it mean to you?

We are often encouraged to focus on working and not to enjoy ourselves. However, if we do this, where does our life go?

When you look back on your life five years from now, will you be excited about that difficult project at work that you finished, or will you be sad when you recall how much stress it caused you and how much joy you missed out on because of it?

There are things we all must do in order to survive, like work, but we must find a balance.

This week’s blog post is about my FAVORITE song from Rammstein’s latest album, “Zeit.” The word “zeit” means “time” in German.

The song completely moves me each time I hear it. When I saw Rammstein perform it live when I saw them in concert last fall, it gave me goosebumps and nearly brought me to tears.

Lyrics (Rough English translation noted in parenthesis):

Manches sollte manches nicht
(Some things shouldn’t)
Wir sehen, doch sind wir blind

(We see, but we are blind)
Wir werfen Schatten ohne Licht

(We cast shadows without light)
Nach uns wird es vorher geben

(After us there will be before)
Aus der Jugend wird schon Not

(Youth turns into hardship)
Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben

(We keep dying until we live)
Sterben lebend in den Tod

(Die alive to death)
Dem Ende treiben wir entgegen

(We are drifting toward the end)
Keine Rast, nur vorwärtsstreben

(Don’t rest, just strive forward)
Am Ufer winkt Unendlichkeit

(Am Ufer winkt Unendlichkeit)
Gefangen so im Fluss der Zeit

(So caught in the flow of time)
Bitte bleib stehen, bleib stehen

(Please stop, stop)
Zeit, das soll immer so weitergehen

(Time, this should always go on like this)
Warmer Körper ist bald kalt

(Warm body is soon cold)
Zukunft kann man nicht beschwören

(You can’t summon the future)
Duldet keinen Aufenthalt

(Do not tolerate staying)
Erschaffen und sogleich zerstören

(Create and immediately destroy)
Ich liege hier in deinen Armen

(I’m lying here in your arms)
Ach, könnt es doch für immer sein

(Oh, it could be forever)
Doch die Zeit kennt kein Erbarmen

(But time knows no mercy)
Schon ist der Moment vorbei

(The moment is already over)
Zeit, bitte bleib stehen, bleib stehen

(Please stop, stop)
Zeit, das soll immer so weitergehen

(Time, this should always go on like this)
Zeit, es ist so schön, so schön

(Time, it’s so beautiful, so beautiful)
Ein jeder kennt den perfekten Moment

(Everyone knows the perfect moment)
Zeit, bitte bleib stehen, bleib stehen

(Please stop, stop)
Wenn unsere Zeit gekommen ist

(When our time has come)
Dann ist es Zeit zu gehen

(Then it’s time to go)
Aufhören, wenn es am schönsten ist

(Stop when it’s most beautiful)
Die Uhren bleiben stehen

(The clocks stop)
So perfekt ist der Moment

(The moment is so perfect)
Doch weiter läuft die Zeit

(But time goes on)
Augenblick, verweile doch

(wait a minute)
Ich bin noch nicht bereit

(I’m not ready)
Zeit, bitte bleib stehen, bleib stehen

(Please stop, stop)
Zeit, das soll immer so weitergehen

(Time, this should always go on like this)
Zeit, es ist so schön, so schön

(Time, it’s so beautiful, so beautiful)
Ein jeder kennt den perfekten Moment

(Everyone knows the perfect moment)

What do you think of the song? How does it encourage you to reflect on how you have been living your life?

This song encourages me to be mindful and carefully think about the ways I spend my time—especially to savor those amazing moments.

This song reminds me of how my first Rammstein concert in 2012 inspired me to start doing music again.

Before I saw Rammstein in concert, I had basically given up on music.

However, at their show, I was so blown away by how passionate they were about performing that I could see how much they loved music, and it was so exhilarating!

I remember talking with two very important people in my life that attended the show with me about this and how I felt inspired to get back into music. These two people were 100% supportive of me. Because of them, I had the courage to make a YouTube Channel, start performing, and make an album.

Life is too short to not do what you LOVE.

Sometimes, it can be scary, but if you have at least ONE person who supports you, you can do it!

May this new year inspire you to live your life doing the things you LOVE! 💙
