Torn

Have you ever had this experience before? You are listening to songs on the radio, and all of a sudden you hear a song that you haven’t heard for AGES. You find yourself singing along to the song and are shocked that you remembered almost all of the words to a song you haven’t thought about for a really long time.

This happened to me recently. Isn’t it AMAZING that the brain can to store things for a really long time even if you don’t use it? ðŸ˜Ū

The song I recently heard was “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia.

Lyrics:

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry
Well you couldn’t be that man that I adored
You don’t seem to know, or seem to care what your heart is for
I don’t know him anymore
There’s nothin’ where he used to lie
Our conversation has run dry
That’s what’s goin’ on
Nothing’s fine, I’m torn
I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You’re a little late
I’m already torn
So I guess the fortune teller’s right
Should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
But you crawled beneath my veins and now
I don’t care, I have no luck
I don’t miss it all that much
There’s just so many things
That I can’t touch, I’m torn
I’m all out of faith, this is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You’re a little late
I’m already torn
Torn
There’s nothing where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That’s what’s goin’ on
Nothing’s right, I’m torn
I’m all out of faith
This is how I feel
I’m cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I’m wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
I’m all out of faith
This is how I feel
I’m cold and I am ashamed
Bound and broken on the floor
You’re a little late
I’m already torn
Torn
Oh
Oh yeah, oh yeah
Oh yeah, oh y

In elementary school, we were assigned pen pals who were in the same grade but went to another school. I really liked my pen pal, and sometimes we talked on the phone.

I remember that during one of our calls, my pen pal was talking about her favorite song at that time, “Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia.

I really liked the song too and had it on cassette tape. ðŸĪ“

My pen pal started playing the song on her CD player in the background, and I decided to play my cassette tape of the song at the same time for some reason.ðŸĪŠ The silly things we do when we are kids…😁

The song “Torn” is about a romantic relationship, but I feel that anyone can relate to feeling torn. Should you should change a relationship you have with someone? Should you make a decision about something? Should you leave your comfort zone?

Ever since I heard “Torn” on the radio recently, it has been stuck in my head.

I found the guitar chords and have been playing and singing the song regularly. 😊

It’s so catchy!

What do you think of the song? Can you think of a song that you listened to a lot as a kid and still can remember the majority of the words to?

Wishing you well! 💜
