This post is dedicated to my grandmother. 💐
My grandmother has been on my mind lately. With Easter coming up, I’ve been thinking about how much fun I had as a kid at Easter at her house. 🐇
My grandmother had a lot of adorable Easter decorations that I loved to look at, and I posted a photo of my FAVORITE one on Instagram this week.
I remember that she and my grandfather had extremely fun Easter egg hunts outdoors! My grandfather sometimes hid the eggs too well. 🤣
My grandmother always spoiled us with SO MUCH CANDY on Easter! 🍬
I have such fond memories of Easter with her and my Grandpa. 💜
Earlier this week was also my grandmother’s birthday, and I wanted to share a song that makes me think of her.
One day, I was playing my guitar and singing for my grandmother and grandfather in their living room. I had a book of songs to play from, and one song I played was “Stand By Me.”
When I performed the song for them, my grandmother had told me that “Stand By Me” was always a song that she really liked.
Here is Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me”:
Lyrics:
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we’ll see
No, I won’t be afraid
Oh, I won’t be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darlin’, darlin’, stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Oh, stand
Stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won’t cry, I won’t cry
No, I won’t shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin’, darlin’, stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Whoa, stand now
Stand by me, stand by me
Darlin’, darlin’, stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Oh, stand now
Stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you’re in trouble, won’t you stand by me?
Oh, stand by me
Whoa, just stand now
Oh, stand, stand by me

Isn’t the song so beautiful? Ben E. King’s voice, the lyrics, and the music all fit so perfectly together. Whenever I hear the song or sing it, I think of my grandmother.
When you hear this song, do you think of anyone?
When my grandmother passed away, I wanted to perform something special at her funeral. Because I knew she liked this song, I memorized it and performed it as a way to honor her.
I hope this week’s song reminds you that whenever you are feeling challenged, never forget that there is always someone there to help you get through it. ❤️
Wishing you well! 💚
The song doesn’t make me think of anyone specifically, but I do agree that’s it’s beautiful. It has a comforting and calming effect. ❤
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Dawn. I’m glad to hear you find the song comforting and calming. 💙
