As I’ve written about before, when I was growing up, I was a HUGE Hanson fan! (Get a glimpse of my “Hanson bedroom” when I was a kid, from an earlier post, here.) As an adult, I still think they are fantastic! 🙂 However, I no longer have posters up. 😉
I’m very disappointed about what much of the music that is considered “popular” is nowadays. It seems that the “popular” performers in the music industry got there because of who they knew, what they looked like (rather than how talented they were), and what they were willing to give up. The focus seems to be less about the art of music and more about making money.
Where the music industry seems to be going makes me admire Hanson even more!
They’ve always been very talented at playing multiple instruments, singing, and writing their own songs. They decided to go the independent route so that they could make their lives as musicians the lives they wanted, ones where they could write the songs that they felt passionate about.
NPR wrote about Hanson’s latest song, “I was Born,” in their article, “Hanson’s Got A New Song, And Guess What? It’s Fantastic.”
The article talks about how this is the 20th anniversary of Hanson’s hit album, Middle of Nowhere. I LOVED that album so much! ❤ I think I can still remember EVERY word of EVERY song on that album! 😉
2017 is also the 25th year of Hanson being a band! In honor of both of these anniversaries, Hanson released the album Middle Of Everywhere: The Greatest Hits and included their latest song, “I Was Born” on it.
I LOVE the song “I Was Born.” ❤ It could be the theme song of my life! 😉 I think it is SO important to do what you need to do to make yourself HAPPY and live the life you’ve dreamed of! ❤
The music video makes the song even MORE powerful! The video is filled with the smiley members of Hanson and shows eleven of the band’s children doing adorable things, like dressing up in different costumes, representing different career paths.
NPR quotes Taylor Hanson as saying,
“The video is about celebrating the dreams that we all have and the pure optimism of the human spirit, and what better way to show that optimistic view of the world than through the eyes of children? For 25 years, we have been able to live out what we feel we were ‘born to do,’ and this song brings that message full circle.”
If you haven’t heard the song or watched the video yet, be warned, it’s going to put a smile on your face, and it will be difficult to get this catchy song out of your head! 😀
I hope you feel inspired to continue to work towards your dreams and live the life you believe you were born to live! ❤
