Hazy Shade of Winter

As I’ve said before, winter in Wisconsin is not my favorite. 😉 People always ask me why I stay in this state then, and I always say “because I love the Spring, Summer, and Fall here.” ❤

There has been a ton of snow the past couple weeks. Yay shoveling! 😡 To make this winter even more “fun,” we’ve had record low temperatures this past week.

How many days until spring, again? 😉

This week, I thought a song about winter would be appropriate. Here is Simon and Garfunkel’s “Hazy Shade of Winter.”

Lyrics:

Time, time, time
See what’s become of me…
Time, time, time
See what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hear the Salvation Army Band
Down by the riverside
It’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry a cup in your hand
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Hang onto your hopes my friend
That’s an easy thing to say
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around
Grass is high
Fields are ripe
It’s the springtime of my life
Seasons change with their scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me
Look around
Leaves are brown
And the sky
Is a Hazy Shade of Winter
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground
Look around
Leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground
I appreciate the beautiful poetry in the lyrics and the eeriness that is present in this song.
When I was looking for the video of this song to share in this week’s post, I actually came across a cover of this song performed by Gerard Way, former lead singer of one of my FAVORITE bands in high school and college, My Chemical Romance.
Gerard’s version is super eerie, and I LOVE it! Check out the song here:

This song is for the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, which is based on Gerard Way’s comic The Umbrella Academy.

Watch the trailer for the series, with “Hazy Shade of Winter,” here:

I don’t know about you, but I always find that good music helps make crappy weather seem less crappy! 😉

If you are in an area that is being affected by these extreme temperatures, I wish you safety and warmth! ❤

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
