Engel

In last week’s post, “Reaching Toward What’s Next,” I wrote about how incredibly amazing it was to finally perform again after over 2.5 years and how getting used to the new normal will take some adjusting to.

In addition to performing again, something else very exciting happened recently. I finally got to see Rammstein perform live again! 🧑πŸ”₯

I had tickets to see them perform at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois in September of 2020, but due to COVID-19, that show got rescheduled to September 2021. However, due to COVID-19 again, the show got rescheduled to September 3, 2022.

Their show was AMAZING and absolutely WORTH THE WAIT! πŸ–€

Here’s a photo I took of Rammstein’s show at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois on September 3, 2022.

Were any of you at the show?

Something that I really enjoyed during Rammstein’s concert was something that they did when I saw them in Poland in July of 2019. (Check out the post about that concert here.)

They put the lyrics to “Engel” up so that everyone in the stadium could participate in a sing-along of the song. 😁

If you are unfamiliar with the song, here is the studio version of it:

Lyrics (General English Translation via Google Translate):

Wer zu Lebzeit gut auf Erden
wird nach dem Tod ein Engel werden
den Blick gen Himmel fragst du dann
warum man sie nicht sehen kann

(Who while alive good on earth
will become an angel after death
then you ask the view of the sky
why you can not see her)

Erst wenn die Wolken schlafen gehen
kann man uns am Himmel sehn
wir haben Angst und sind allein

(Only when the clouds go to sleep
is it possible to see us at the sky
we are afraid and alone)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Sie leben hinterm Sonnenschein
getrennt von uns unendlich weit
sie mussen sich an Sterne krallen (ganz fest)
damit sie nicht vom Himmel fallen

(They live behind the sunshine
far apart from us
they have to cling to stars (very tight)
so they don’t fall from the sky)

Erst wenn die Wolken schlafen gehen
kann man uns am Himmel sehn
wir haben Angst und sind allein

(Only when the clouds go to sleep
is it possible to see us at the sky
we are afraid and alone)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Erst wenn die Wolken schlafen gehen
kann man uns am Himmel sehn
wir haben Angst und sind allein

(Only when the clouds go to sleep
is it possible to see us at the sky
we are afraid and alone)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

Gott weiss ich will kein Engel sein
(God knows I don’t want to be an angel)

One thing that I really enjoy about Rammstein’s music is that it tells very interesting stories.

I really enjoy their song “Engel.”

What do you think of the song?

Are there any events that you have recently been to that were cancelled due to COVID-19 and rescheduled for this year?

May you all be well and easily adapt to the new normal! πŸ’œ

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
