Dream a Little Dream of Me

It’s autumn, but Wisconsin doesn’t seem to remember that right now—as shown through the snow on the ground. ❄️

We don’t have enough to make a snowman, but give it time. ☃️

What do you enjoy doing when it snows?

I typically enjoy staying indoors. 🤣

If I do go outside, I enjoy looking at how beautiful nature looks draped in white crystals. ❄️(I hope to post some photos on my Facebook Page and Instagram. 😊)

Lately, I’ve been enjoying practicing a new cover for my upcoming shows. Although I love writing and performing my own songs, I don’t quite have enough of my own material to perform for 3 hours, so I LOVE performing my favorite covers as well.

Recently, I received a recommendation for a cover I should do at a future show. The song is “Dream a Little Dream of Me” as performed by Cass Elliot.

Lyrics:

Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper “I love you”
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me
Say “night-ie night” and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you’ll miss me
While I’m alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I’m longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries far behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

What do you think of the song? I LOVE watching Cass Elliot perform this song! It makes me smile whenever I watch this video. She had an extremely beautiful voice and seemed very happy to be on stage performing. 💛

Prior to the recommendation, I was unaware that Cass Elliot did a cover of this song.

The version that I was familiar with was Ella Fitzgerald’s version.

Ella Fitzgerald’s voice was just incredible! 💜 How do you like her version of this song?

I thought Ella Fitzgerald might have been the first to record the song, but it was actually Ozzie Nelson in 1931.

What do you think of the first recorded version of this song?

I enjoy his version of the song as well! I actually hadn’t heard of Ozzie Nelson prior to writing this post. I appreciate learning about vocalists/musicians from the past.

There has been and continues to be SO MUCH talent in this world! 💚

Which of these three versions do you like the best? Is your favorite version by someone not in this post?

Wishing you well!💙

Thoughts? Please post them :-)
