Welcome Sweet Springtime

As I mentioned in last week’s blog post, “Doing More with YouTube,”  I created a YouTube channel for my business, which you can access at Allison Merten Editing & Tutoring, LLC. You will see posts every Friday on this channel. For my music channel, AllysMusicRoom, I shared that my new goal is to post at least one video every month.

Although I already posted on my music channel this month, my performance on “We Need to Say Goodbye,” by Jose Ricardo Morales, I wanted to challenge myself to post one more video this month! 😀

Last week marked the beginning of spring, at least according to the calendar. 😉 However, this week, it actually has felt like spring! 🐻

I thought it would be fun to share a song about spring! 🙂 Since I have not yet written any songs about spring, I looked for songs in the public domain about spring. I came across a song called “Welcome Sweet Springtime.”

I had never heard of this song before, and I learned that according to the Library of Congress, in 1884, Michael Watson adapted “Welcome Sweet Springtime,” also known as “Voices of the Woods,” to “Melody in F” by Anton Rubinstein.

In honor of spring, I wanted to share with you my cover of “Welcome Sweet Springtime.” ❤

The lyrics to the songs are as follows:

Welcome Sweet Springtime, We greet thee in song.
Murmers of gladness Fall on the ear.
Voices long hushed, Now their full notes prolong.
Echoing far and near.

Balmy and life breathing breezes are blowing.
Swiftly to nature new vigor bestowing.
Ah! how my heart beats with rapture anew.
Earth’s fairest beauties again meet my view.

Sing then, ye birds, raise your voices on high.
Flow’rets awake ye. Burst into bloom!
Springtime is come, and sweet Summer is nigh.
Sing then, ye birds, O sing.

May the weather continue to get better, and may we show our love and appreciation for the beautiful sights in nature that are blooming before our eyes! ❤
