Iron Man

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 🎼

When I was listening to the radio on Tuesday, I heard the DJ say that he had some sad news to report. He shared that about thirty minutes prior, Ozzy Osbourne had passed away.

The DJ talked about the positive impact Ozzy had on the music scene, for example by helping new bands through Ozzfest.

As the DJ continued talking about Ozzy and playing Ozzy’s songs, I felt sad that such a unique and influential musical artist had passed away.

In addition to Ozzy making great music, he was also very good at making people laugh!

When I was a kid, I watched The Osbournes tv show with my dad. I remember laughing at the silly things the Osbourne family would do during this show, and I especially remember laughing really hard with my dad at the silly things Ozzy in particular would say or do. 😂

For example, I don’t remember who Ozzy was responding to in the show, but I remember him saying, “I’m the bloody prince of F***ing darkness!” 🤣

As a vocalist, Ozzy created great music due to his unique voice and stage presence.

Here is a video from 2017 of Black Sabbath performing “Iron Man.”

Lyrics:

I am Iron Man

Has he lost his mind?
Can he see or is he blind?
Can he walk at all
Or if he moves, will he fall?

Is he alive or dead?
Has he thoughts within his head?
We’ll just pass him there
Why should we even care?

He was turned to steel
In the great magnetic field
When he traveled time
For the future of mankind

Nobody wants him
He just stares at the world
Planning his vengeance
That he will soon unfurl

Now the time is here
For Iron Man to spread fear
Vengeance from the grave
Kills the people he once saved

Nobody wants him
They just turn their heads
Nobody helps him
Now he has his revenge

Heavy boots of lead
Fills his victims full of dread
Running as fast as they can
Iron Man lives again

This video is from Black Sabbath’s official channel, and the description says “Performing ‘Iron Man’ live for the very last time.”

I just LOVE how excited Ozzy was during this performance! 🖤

What is your favorite song by Black Sabbath or Ozzy? Why do you like it?

I hope people can remember the powerful impact Ozzy’s music had on others. 💜

If you’d like to support my mission to share my passion for music with the world and spread joy, love, and positivity, you can do so here. Thank you! 💙
