For this month’s theme of love, I wrote about some love songs that I really LOVE! (Check out my posts about “In the Still of the Night,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and “I Got You Babe.” ❤
This week I wanted to write about another one of my favorite love songs: The Difters’ “This Magic Moment.”
Lyrics:
Songwriters: Doc Pomus / Mort Shuman © Warner/Chappell Music, Inc, Spirit Music Group
This magic moment, so different and so new
Was like any other until I kissed you
And then it happened, it took me by surprise
I knew that you felt it too, by the look in your eyes
Sweeter than wine
Softer than the summer night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight
This magic moment while your lips are close to mine
Will last forever, forever ’till the end of timeoh-oh-oh-oh-oh(Magic, magic) oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
(Magic, magic) uh-uh-uh-uh-uh
Sweeter than wine
Softer than the summer night
Everything I want, I have
Whenever I hold you tight
This magic moment while your lips are close to mine
Will last forever, forever ’till the end of timewhoa-oh-oh-oh-ohMagic moment (magic, magic)
Magic moment (magic, magic)
Magic moment (magic, magic)
I LOVE the passion in this song, specifically the line “Everything I want, I have.” I get goosebumps when I hear that line because it is sung with such emotion.
Although the lyrics of this song may be quite simple, the message is extremely powerful. This song captivates what it feels like to be in love and no matter what is going on at that particular moment, it is incomparable to the way you feel when you are with the one you love. ❤
In addition to being moved every time I hear this song, I also find myself smiling because of the association I have with this song.
When I was growing up, I really enjoyed watching the movie, The Sandlot.
One of the funniest scenes of that movie is when Squints steals a kiss from Wendy the lifeguard (the girl he has a major crush on). He jumps into the deep end of the pool and does not come up. Wendy dives in to rescue him. She begins giving him CPR. Then, when Wendy is giving him chest compressions, Squints opens his eyes, makes a face at his friends to let them know that he is okay, closes his eyes again, and steals a kiss from Wendy when she begins giving him rescue breathing again. The song “This Magic Moment” begins playing, and Wendy is furious! She calls Squints a pervert and kicks him out of the pool. That scene is hilarious! 😀
Is there a love song that makes you laugh because of the association that you have with the song? 🙂
