Do you ever hear a song you like and find yourself surprised when you find out that it’s a cover?
That happened to me. I don’t really know music by German artists, except for Rammstein. So, the first time I heard “Das Model,” I didn’t know it was a cover.
(No joke, as I started writing this post, Rammstein’s cover of “Das Model” just came on my randomized playlist! 😮 )
I thought that “Das Model” was very catchy and noticed that it had a different style than their other songs.
Every time I heard the song after I learned it was a cover, I had intended to look up who the original artist was and what the original song sounded like. I was curious to see how similar Rammstein’s version was to the original.
I was in for a surprise. 😉
Here’s a video I found of Kraftwerk (the original artists) performing “Das Model” live:
Lyrics:
When I watched the video for the first time, I was very surprised that the band was made up of only synthesizer players! How unique!
I was also very intrigued by the fact that all band members were dressed the same and were on stage basically without emotion (especially the guy at the far end!).
I was very entertained by the unique dance moves performed by the vocalist and band member next to him. I have to say that I have never seen a group made of only synthesizers before nor a group that was pretty motionless during their performance. However, I LOVE when people express their uniqueness, so I think that their uniqueness is great!
Every since I watched this video, their song keeps getting stuck in my head! It’s got a very catchy a riff!
Since this song is about a model, I wanted to share a picture with you that I had forgotten about until I was looking for a picture to include in this week’s post. 😋
When I was a student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Victoria, one of my dearest friends, was a fashion student. For some of her assignments, she needed to display her creations in fashion shows, and she asked me to model some of her clothes! ❤
Here’s a photo from a fashion show at the Memorial Union.

The times I got to walk down the catwalk wearing Victoria’s beautiful creations are some of my favorite memories from my time as an undergrad. I felt so honored! ❤
I intended to write this post about a fun song that I can’t get out of my head, and now, I realize that I’ve also taken you with me on a trip down memory lane. 😉
Isn’t it funny how that happens! 🙂
Wishing you well! ❤
