I recently rewatched the 1998/1999 anime Cowboy Bebop. It had been over a decade since I’d watched it, and I remember that it was the first anime that I ever saw.
The more experiences we have, the more are perspectives of things change, and watching this anime over a decade after I had first seen it resulted in a more powerful viewing experience.
My favorite character in Cowboy Bebop is Spike Spiegel. Spike is a very clever bounty hunter and a very skilled fighter. I am extremely humored by his arrogance! He makes me laugh so hard! 😁
The show has many hilarious moments, but it is largely about whether we choose to live in this reality or stay stuck in the past.
The anime ends with an EXTREMELY moving song. Here is “Blue” by Mai Yamane.
Lyrics:
Never seen a bluer sky
Yeah, I can feel it reaching out
And moving closer
There’s something about blue
Asked myself what it’s all for
You know, the funny thing about it
I couldn’t answer
No, I couldn’t answer
Things have turned a deeper shade of blue
And images that might be real
Maybe illusion
Keep flashing off and on
Free
I wanna be free
Gonna be free
And move among the stars
You know, they really aren’t so far
Feels so free
Gotta know free
Please
Don’t wake me from the dream
It’s really everything it seemed
I’m so free
No black and white in the blue
Free
Everything is clearer now
Life is just a dream, you know
It’s never-ending
I’m ascending

No matter what has happened to you, you have a choice. You can let go of the past and move forward with your life, or you can let the past consume you.
Choose wisely.
Wishing you well! 💜
