Portugal Day 4

I am excited to share with you what I did during my fourth day in Portugal! 🙂(If you haven’t seen my other Portugal posts, check out Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3. 😊)

On my fourth day in Portugal, I went to Palácio de Fronteira (the Fronteira Palace). There was a wedding at the palace, so I was unable to see the inside, but the palace gardens were stunning! 😍

There were SO MANY gorgeous fountains and beautiful sculptures! It was like something you would see only in a movie! 💚

It was my first time in a maze garden, so I thought that was really neat. 😊

After the palace, I traveled by bus and by foot to Torre de Belém (the Belém Tower). On the trek over, I saw the beautiful Aqueduto das Águas Livres, Lisbon’s historic aqueduct.

I didn’t know I was going to see this on the way over to the tower, so I was VERY EXCITED!

Once I got close to Torre de Belém, I enjoyed a DELICIOUS lunch at Café Império and especially LOVED the bolo de bolacha (biscuit cake) there!

After I was reenergized, I headed down to Torre de Belém.

The tower was GORGEOUS!

I didn’t actually go inside because tickets were sold out. That’s okay, though. It was an EXTREMELY hot day, and I imagine it would have been incredibly hot inside! 😅

While I was enjoying the stunning ocean view and watching beautiful boats travel past, I had a piña colada in a PINEAPPLE for the first time! 🤣 That was a lot of fun! 😁

Next, I visited Museu do Combatente—Forte do Bom Sucesso (the Combatant’s Museum). There, I had fun sitting in an armored personnel carrier! (Yes, that was allowed. 😜) I saw an amphibious vehicle for the first time, which was really cool! There was a moving exhibit depicting what war was like for Portuguese soldiers during WWI, and at the front of the building, there was a beautiful memorial for lost soldiers with guards marching in front.

One of my favorite parts of this museum was the tile art.

After this museum, I traveled to Museu Nacional dos Coches (the National Coach Museum).

This museum was amazing! There were SO MANY coaches! One of them was a rare coach from the 1600s!

I had no idea that coaches had such intricate designs and that some of them were even decorated in gold! 😲

It was neat to see what princess carriages from the animated princess movies I watched as a little girl were based on. 👑

I had so many memorable experiences during my fourth day in Portugal. 🙂

Wishing you well! 💛
