Don’t You (Forget about Me)

Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. πŸŒ·

There is so much BEAUTY during the warmer months in Wisconsin! πŸ’š

I captured this photo after a lovely dinner with friends. πŸ’™

Friends just make life so much richer. 🩷 Don’t they?

One of my longtime friends recently came to mind when I heard “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds on the radio.

Lyrics:

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Won’t you come see about me?
I’ll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving everything inside and out and
Love’s strange, so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ooh, woah
Don’t you try and pretend
It’s my feeling we’ll win in the end
I won’t harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security, ah
Don’t you forget about me
I’ll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby
Going to take you apart
I’ll put us back together at heart, baby
Don’t you, forget about me
Don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t
Don’t you, forget about me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on, call my name
Will you call my name?
I say
La, la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
When you walk on by
And you call my

Is there anyone out there who can hear this song and not immediately think of The Breakfast Club? 🀣

The Breakfast Club is such an intriguing film about the roles we are forced to play, how those roles affect our well-being, and the importance of genuine friendships.

(If you haven’t seen my post about the Bob’s Burgers parody of this song, check it out: “Don’t You Love Cotton Candy?” 😁)

“Don’t You (Forget About Me)” reminds me of one of my friends from childhood.

She was ALWAYS supportive of my passion for sharing music with the world! 🩷

She ALWAYS embraced my unique personality. πŸ’™

She was ALWAYS there for me! πŸ’š

As we got older, we started drifting apart…an experience I’m sure many of you can relate to.

Luckily, we ended up reconnecting and have an important role in each other’s lives! ❀️

As time moves forward, sometimes we forget who’s really important and who we were meant to be.

Can you think of any meaningful people that you wish you had kept in touch with? It’s never too late to reach out! πŸ’œ

May you be well! πŸ’™

If you’d like to support my mission to share my passion for music with the world and spread joy, love, and positivity, you can do so here. Thank you! ❀️
