Did you make a new year’s resolution? Or, did you make multiple?

I used to do new year’s resolutions, but I found an article that helped me rethink that. The article is called “New Year’s Resolution: 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Have a New Year’s Resolution” and was written by Amy B. Scher.

Scher talks about why new year’s resolutions can be destructive and offers alternatives to new year’s resolutions.

Instead of making a new year’s resolution, Scher recommends choosing an intention or theme for the year. She says, “Make it your year of___ (fill in the blank).”

I LOVE the idea of thinking about a theme to hold in my life this year as opposed to a number of resolutions (like I have done in the past).

What do you think of having a theme for 2023? What do you want yours to be?

Because it is the new year, there are SO MANY advertisements encouraging weight loss programs and products.

I think it is SO IMPORTANT to change if YOU want to change. What’s not okay is being told when you watch TV or go online that you are NOT good enough. It’s so sad. ☹️

How does the song make you feel? What do you think about the music video?

I hadn’t seen this video since it first came out. The video was such a perfect choice for this song. You can see the pain in all the people in the video—pain caused by not feeling good enough.

When you see all the advertisements telling you that you need to be different because it’s a new year, remind yourself that you ARE good enough. If you want to change, that should be your choice.
