Here’s another edition of the Thursday Evening Post. 🌼
The weather lately has been GORGEOUS! 🌞It makes for wonderful bike rides! 🚲
When the weather is beautiful, I feel less inclined to do indoor activities like painting miniatures, but I’m really excited that I finished painting this quest marker from the Return to Dark Tower board game. I love its nature theme! ❤️
I recently watched a commercial that had a Big Mouth Billy Bass in it. 🤣
It made me remember how my grandmother had gotten one of those singing fish for my family when I was a kid. I loved pressing the button to make Billy sing over, and over, and over again! 😂
When you pushed Billy’s button, the following song started playing:
I wanna know
Can you help me?
I’d love to stay
Then, he lifted his head to face you and moved his mouth to sing the following lines:
But take me to the river
Drop me in the water
Take me to the river
Put me in the water
Poor Billy! He just wanted to return to the water! 😃

Since I hadn’t thought about Billy until that commercial, I was curious to see what song he was singing. He sings a slightly altered version of the song “Take Me to the River” by the Talking Heads.
Lyrics:
I don’t know why I love her like I do
All the changes you put me through
Take my money, my cigarettes
I haven’t seen the worst of it
I wanna know, can you tell me
Am I in love to stay?
Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Take me to the river, dip me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down
I don’t know why you treat me so bad
Think of all the things that we could have had
Love is a notion that I can’t forget
My sweet sixteen I would never regret
I wanna know, can you tell me?
Am I in love to stay?
Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Push me in the river, dip me in the water
Washing me
Hug me, squeeze me, love me, tease me
Till I can’t, till I can’t, till I can’t take no more
Dip me in the water, drop me in the river
Push me in the water, drop me in the river
Washing me down, washing me down
I don’t know why I love her like I do
All the trouble you put me through
Sixteen candles there on my wall
And here am I, the biggest fool of them all
I wanna know, can you tell me?
Am I in love to stay?
Take me to the river, drop me in the water
Dip me in the river, drop me in the water
Washing me down, washing me down
Once I started listening to this song, I was sure that I had heard it before when I was a kid on the radio at some point. I particularly like the unique rhythm of the vocals in the chorus.
Now I know that the original song is about LOVE, not a fish! 🤣
Did you ever have a Big Mouth Billy Bass?
May you be well! 💙
