Yesterday was International Women’s Day. 💪

In honor of the holiday, I wanted to share my original song “Anthem” with you.

A really great song to listen to when celebrating International Women’s Day is “Not a Pretty Girl” by Ani DiFranco.

Last summer, I had my first show in over 2.5 years, and I was SO EXCITED to perform again! I asked my friends if they had any requests for covers. One of my friends asked that I cover “Not a Pretty Girl.”

I was not familiar with the song prior to that, and the first time I heard it, I was COMPLETELY moved.

I told my friend, “How had I not heard this song before?”

I learned the song for last summer’s show and was really looking forward to performing it for my friend, but she got COVID and was unable to attend the show.

Although she still hasn’t heard my cover of this song, I look forward to sharing it with her sometime. 😊

I feel that SO MANY people can relate to “Not a Pretty Girl”—being much more than just what people see.
