I was very sad to learn that Aretha Franklin passed away last Thursday, losing her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was only 76 years old.

Aretha Franklin was such an amazing vocalist. She sang with remarkable power and emotion.

Many have been mourning Aretha Franklin’s death by listening to her music which is evident through the fact that her 1985 album 30 Greatest Hits reached #7 on the Billboard 200.

The last time Aretha Franklin had an album place so highly on the Billboard 200 was in 1972 when Amazing Grace reached #7.

Aretha Franklin had numerous great songs. My favorite is “Respect,” which I wrote about earlier this year.

Some of the others I really enjoy are:

“I Say a Little Prayer,”

“(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman,”

and “Son of a Preacher Man.”

Aretha Franklin was a truly amazing, one of a kind talent. She will be missed.
